Begin with the supplied documentation
Battery care is specific to the battery, charger and truck configuration. Keep the supplier's operating manual, charger instructions and service contacts together. This checklist is for organising those documents; it does not replace the manufacturer's operating or emergency procedures.
Before putting a truck into service
Ask the supplier to confirm the battery chemistry, approved charger, required electrical supply and the operating conditions permitted for that configuration. Have the site's responsible personnel review the charging location and operating arrangements before use.
Make responsibilities clear
- Identify who is authorised to operate and charge the truck.
- Keep the relevant manuals accessible to operators.
- Record reported warning messages and service requests.
- Agree how unusual behaviour is escalated to the supplier.
- Maintain a record of inspections and service work required by the manual.
Do not invent charging temperature limits, charging intervals or storage settings from a generic online article. Use the instructions supplied for the actual equipment.
Ask the supplier these questions
Which charger is approved? What information should be recorded when requesting support? What are the storage instructions? Which tasks require an authorised technician? Where are the emergency instructions and warranty conditions?
Keep a simple equipment record
A record containing the truck model, battery identification, charger identification, delivery date and service contact makes support conversations clearer. Store photographs of identification labels and the supplied documentation with that record.
